How to Develop a Daily Quran Reading Habit

The Challenge of Consistency

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, maintaining a consistent habit of reading the Holy Quran can be challenging. Many people start with great enthusiasm, only to see their habit fade after a few weeks. However, the Prophet (PBUH) taught us that the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small.

Start Small and Anchor Your Habit

The key to building a lasting habit is to start small. Commit to reading just five minutes or one page a day. Anchor this habit to an existing daily routine, such as right after Fajr prayer or right before going to sleep. By tying the new habit to an established one, you are much more likely to remember and complete it.

Set Up a Dedicated Space

Designate a quiet, clean corner in your home specifically for reading the Quran. Keep your Mushaf (copy of the Quran), a comfortable prayer mat, and a reading stand (Rehal) there. When you enter this physical space, your mind will naturally transition into a state of worship and focus.

Track Your Progress

Use a habit tracker or a journal to mark off the days you successfully read the Quran. Seeing a visual chain of success is highly motivating and makes you less likely to break the streak on days when you feel tired or unmotivated.
